Covid-19 & the quarantine was hard on local businesses.
What a difference six months can make. On March 1, 2020, our economy was booming and our collective lives were “normal.” Sure, there were reports about a highly contagious new virus circulating in China, but those reports were coming from far away and none of us had any clue that what would happen actually could happen. Fast forward 180 days later (September 1, 2020) and we are living in a different world. Well-intended yet unprecedented government restrictions to slow the spread of COVID-19 have crippled many parts of a previously vibrant economy. Tourism and travel-related industries continue to struggle with 50 million jobs at risk. This sector’s challenges alone represent a staggering 10% of global GDP. Restaurants at-large are projected to have lost >$240B by the end of 2020, with scores of local restaurants having already closed their doors for good. Other industries, such as energy, entertainment, & general merchandise have been dramatically affected by mass immobilization of society.
In six short months, many of the nation’s largest insurers have refunded aggregate sums exceeding $14B in auto premiums. These refunds are a representative measure of statistically plummeting numbers of previously mobile Americans no longer living (at least temporarily) the in-transit lifestyles all of us have previously come to expect. Consumers and employers are cautious, and everyone is waiting to understand the new definition of “normal.” Some industries are better off than others, but only a select few have excelled. Despite the complexity of these macroeconomic headwinds, life does not stop. The truth is that now more than ever, local businesses need local patronage. Rollo Insurance is proud to be headquartered in Aggieland and is proud to support the community. We live here, we shop here, we go to church here, and our kids go to school here. We too have been challenged by the economic effects of COVID-19, but were grateful to have remained healthy and stable. As B/CS endures hardships, our agency has doubled down on continuing to engage and support area residents who have so faithfully and reliably supported us. As we collectively strive to restore “normal,” let’s stick together starting right here in B/CS.
Rollo Insurance is committed to being local.
We at Rollo Insurance Group celebrate achievement, entrepreneurship, and servant-leadership as elemental components of living out the American Dream. For our agency, the intersection and delivery of these qualities starts with living and serving locally. Insurance is the largest financial blue-chip industry in the world. Given the industry’s size, there are countless corporate entities that seek to commoditize an industry that was never designed to be transacted in such a hollowed-out way. We believe that neither our clients, nor the lives they have worked tirelessly to construct, are a commodity. Recognizing the shortcomings and displeasures of call centers, online helpdesks, and seemingly endless advertising, we at Rollo Insurance are passionate about thinking, functioning, and serving differently. Servant-leadership starts with serving locally. This is why we are visibly and proudly headquartered at 1500 S. Earl Rudder Freeway. It is also why we’re independent. This independence means we are loyal to our clients. Our job isn’t to represent a single insurance company, but rather to match the right insurance carrier capabilities to the individual client’s needs in a market that is continually evolving. Whether securing new coverage, modifying existing coverage, canvassing the market for different options, or filing a claim, our agency relishes the opportunity to live, work, and serve right here in Aggieland.
We are fully committed to being based in College Station for a long, long time.
Bumper stickers are funny business, aren’t they? One commonly seen sticker reads, “I wasn’t born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could.” Dating back to 1836 and the Alamo, all Texans are proud of their heritage. Rollo Insurance is a Texas-formed business and we’re proud of that, too! Within the Lone Star State, Aggieland is an incredibly special place. If you are originally from here, you have probably always known it. If you moved here, you have certainly come to understand it. Rollo Insurance wasn’t founded in Bryan/College Station, but we moved here as fast as we could. The area is home to dozens of local agents and staff and is a mission-critical piece of our long-term plans for continued growth, service, and expansion. If we ever get into the bumper sticker business, perhaps our first product might read: “Our agency wasn’t born in B/CS, but we got here as fast as we could.” Now that we’re here, we don’t ever plan to leave.
